False Narratives

Each one of us is an author. Our thoughts are the words which fill the pages of our mind. Everyone has narratives they’ve been writing their entire existence - since the day they were born. Most people are stuck writing one narrative their whole life, unaware of the option to stop writing, take a breath, and start a new one.

Up until about a year ago, I had one singular narrative with enough pages to fill the Grand Canyon. These pages were filled with lies about how I had to earn love and acceptance. These pages were smothered with disappointment in myself for not performing in baseball. These pages were littered with aspects of my life I could improve, never concerned with what I was doing well. My first narrative was a shitty read dude.

Over the last year or so I’ve started to write a new narrative - one filled with love, curiosity, and empowerment. Sometimes I find myself writing more pages in that damned false narrative. It’s so familiar I don’t even realize when I’m writing in their sometimes. Slowly but surely I continue to add pages to the most authentic narrative I’ve written yet.

It may feel fictional at times, but I encourage you to consider writing a new narrative for yourself. Even if you are content, ask yourself, is there room for a better story? If you could write a narrative with no limits, what would YOU write?

With Love,

Luke
