No End in Sight

The hardest challenge I faced as an athlete was workouts with no end in sight. The only thing you were told was, “you guys are gonna do this until I get tired of watching,” and your mind was left to fill in the blanks. In these moments of suffering my true character was exposed.

Look for growth in the suffering. I know it sounds strange, but when you focus on what the moment could teach you, it creates light at the end of the tunnel. Suffering is discussed in nearly every religion for a reason, it’s vital for growth.

Life is full of periods with no end in sight. During these periods, you have decisions to make.  Who do you want to be when there is no end in sight?  What thoughts do you choose to put on center stage? It is key to give yourself grace in these moments - adding to the pressure helps no one - and pat yourself on the back when you see progress.

Find different tools to create this light at the end of the tunnel. Maybe you start using a calendar to track milestones and practice accountability. Or you might find this light is best created from a consistent morning routine. Be patient with yourself in this process and keep testing new tools if previous ones don’t work. You got this.

Reach out if you need recommendations.

With Love,

Luke
